ISAT Testing -- 02.11.10
February 2010

Dear Parent or Guardian:

We will be giving state-required achievement tests during the weeks of March 1-12, 2010 as part of the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) program.  Students in grades three, four, five, six, seven, and eight will be tested in reading and mathematics. Students in grades four and seven will be tested in science.  This year, students in grades three, five, six, and eight will also be tested in writing.

Next fall, you will receive information about your child’s performance on the state tests. In addition, a summary of the district results will be reported on the School Report Card by the end of October. State test results along with other information are used to improve our school programs.

You can help your child do his or her best on the tests by:

1) making sure, if possible, that your child attends school on the days of testing;
2) making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the nights before testing;
3) providing breakfast on the mornings of testing;
4) reminding your child to ask the teacher questions if he or she does not understand the test directions;
5) letting your child know that you have confidence in his or her ability to do his or her best; and
6) advising your child not to worry about the tests—just to do the best he or she can.

Please call me at (630) 377-4840 or email Mark.Pomplun@d303.org if you want additional information about these tests.

We look forward to sharing the ISAT results with you this fall.

Sincerely,
Mark Pomplun, Ph.D.
Director of Assessment and Accountability

This subsection (e) does not apply to (i) a person engaged in a highway construction or maintenance project for which a construction or maintenance speed zone has been established under Section 11-605.1, (ii) a person using a wireless telephone for emergency purposes, including, but not limited to, law enforcement agency, health care provider, fire department, or other emergency services agency or entity, (iii) a law enforcement officer or operator of an emergency vehicle when performing the officer's or operator's official duties, or (iv) to a person using a wireless telephone in voice-activated mode.

Traffic Plan Update

There is a traffic plan update...

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC REMINDER
Please do not make a left hand turn out of the circle drive between the hours of 8:00 - 9:00 and 2:30 – 3:30.  This is a recommendation of the West Chicago Police and School District Staff for safety reasons and to reduce backup.  If you need to turn left onto Smith Road, please park in the West Chicago Park District parking lot.  You are able to turn left out of the West Chicago Park District parking lot.  Remember that this is not a drop off location.  You will need to walk your child(ren) to the sidewalk.

The new map can be found under Our School > Traffic Plan
